Volunteers, Working Members and Apprenticeships
There is a wonderful crew of volunteers and working members at the Happy Heart Farm that support the farmers, apprentices, and the regular subscribing members. Many of the tasks at the farm are done by hand. Our volunteers and working members are the visible manifestation of the adage: ”Many hands make light work”. We are grateful for their friendships and help in growing delicious healthy produce Opportunities of being a volunteer or working member include: fresh air, being in sunshine and weather of all kinds, learning and participating in many farm activities from planting in the greenhouse, transplanting in the fields, weeding, harvesting, washing produce in preparation for the weekly distribution. Benefits also include meeting other kind and interesting community-minded folks. A sense of satisfaction and community is gained through group efforts and accomplishments. Past volunteers and working members have expressed that their working service at the Farm is a form of therapy: a pleasant compliment to their regular jobs and routines. Feeling a part of the cycles of nature allows you to feel more connected to yourself, the land and the rhythms of the seasons. Volunteering at Happy Heart Farm

Happy Heart Farm ApprenticeshipsThere is some real magic that happens when the right student finds the right teacher at the right time. There are those of you that are ready to completely submerge yourselves into the lifestyle and rigor of CSA farming, and the Happy Heart Farm is a great place to learn the needed skills, timing, and disciplines. We are looking for people who can make a commitment to the farm for at least the entire growing season, March to November. A strong sense of willingness, lively sense of humor, and positive outlook on life is strongly recommended. It seems to work out best if folks have made their own housing and transportation arrangements, but there is lots of sharing with the Stenson family, too. Please contact us for more information. |
