CSA and Biodynamic Agriculture

Community Supporting Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between local farmers (producers) and community members (consumers). The members pay an annual fee to help cover the costs of the farm. In return, they receive a weekly share of the harvest. This arrangement provides fresh healthy and nutritious food for the consumer while guaranteeing financial support for the grower. Members also share with the farmer the risks and rewards of working with the verities of nature.

Happy Heart was the first farm in Colorado to model CSA, and is glad to be a part of this growing phenomenon that is revolutionizing the way Americas buy their food. Local is the new organic. Your membership is an eco-logical economic vote for a sustainable future for the Farm and the community it supports.

Bio Dynamics is a fascinating system of agriculture that goes far beyond organic methods. Special preparations and sprays made from herbs, mineral substances and animal manures are used in highly diluted solution (homeopathically) for pest control, soil fertility, and plant growth. Planting, tillage, composting and other events are timed to the stars, planets, and moon. The root of the biodynamic system is the relationship of the farmer and his or her practices to the local ecosystem, which in biodynamics reaches the extent of including the influence of the cosmos and the subtle life forces. The result is magically vibrant and delicious produce.
